Bio

Kiana is a 6th-year doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at the University at Buffalo, completing their Pre-Doctoral Internship at the NC State Counseling Center. They are a proud graduate of Spelman College (2019) and Georgia State University (2021). Kiana has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including university counseling, medical, and community. They believe in providing culturally-responsive, accessible mental health care for all clients through identifying client strengths and protective factors. Their practice infuses cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and person-centered approaches, employing structured interventions while meeting clients where they are. Kiana prioritizes facilitating counseling as a safe space focused on healing and inner connection. They are also passionate about addressing mental health disparities for minoritized populations, especially people of color and LGBTQ+ identified clients. Beyond work, Kiana loves thrifting and anything houseplant-related.
