The Counseling Center offers psychiatric evaluation and other psychiatric services. Our staff psychiatrists consult with both our professional staff and our clients. If you think you need medication management, you must see a counselor at the Counseling Center first. The counselor will arrange for your psychiatric evaluation.
Research has shown that a combined approach of therapy and medication is more effective than either treatment alone. You are eligible for two (2) psychiatric appointments before we assess any additional fees. If you need more than three psychiatric appointments, each additional session will cost between $60-85 depending on the nature of the service rendered. Charges will appear on your student account. Check with your health insurance company to find out whether your health insurance policy will reimburse you for these costs.
After an initial evaluation for medication, your psychiatrist will help you manage your medication and monitor your progress during follow-up appointments. Concurrent therapy will continue to focus on dealing with underlying issues and skill building.
