Heather Rogers
Psychiatrist
Bio
I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with extensive experience treating a wide range of psychiatric issues. I attended Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Colorado and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill. Since then I have practiced in rural, academic and private practice settings. Currently I have the privilege of working with students at NC State’s Counseling Center.
I am a strong proponent of the biopsychosocial model of psychiatry, a broad approach that considers a patient’s physical, mental and social sources of psychological well being and distress. This integrated treatment approach includes careful evaluation, psychotherapy, good sleep hygiene, healthy diet, regular exercise, mindfulness and when appropriate, pharmacotherapy (medication). I am also a certified (RYT-200) yoga teacher and incorporate yoga skills into my work with patients.
