Let’s Talk: Drop-In Support

What is Let’s Talk?

Let’s Talk is a program that provides NC State Students quick access to conversations with mental health professionals from the Counseling Center.

Let’s Talk is not a substitute for regular therapy, counseling, or psychiatric care and is meant to be an opportunity to quickly explore and gain access to mental health support. Talking with a counselor can help provide insight, solutions, and additional information about other resources.

Let’s Talk opportunities occur through the academic year and can be located in multiple campus centers and locations as well as connected to embedded and specialized counselors. Visits are free, confidential, and do not require completion of paperwork prior to meeting.

How does Let’s Talk work?

Let’s Talk “drop-in” spaces are first-come, first-served. The counselor’s role is to listen closely to your concerns and provide support, additional perspectives, and provide suggestions for resources.

Let’s Talk opportunities for Embedded Counselors may utilize the same “drop-in” approach described above or they may use a sign-up or request form to ensure matching availability. Please check out the Embedded Counselor pages for more detailed information.

Is Let’s Talk the right choice for me?

Let’s Talk is an especially good fit for students who:

  • Are looking to learn more about counseling and counseling center services.
  • Are looking for advice, suggestions, or perspectives on a specific problem.
  • Are looking for quick access skills or ideas to help address a concern.

*Note: We are indebted to Cornell University and its Let’s Talk program for much of the content above.
