A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental health disorders. The Counseling Center offers psychiatric evaluation and other psychiatric services. Our staff psychiatrists consult with both our professional staff and our clients. If you think you need medication management, you will generally need to see a counselor prior to referral. The counselor will arrange for your psychiatric evaluation.

Our Approach

You are eligible for two psychiatric appointments before we assess any additional fees. If you need more than two psychiatric appointments, each session will cost $80-120 depending on the nature of services rendered. Charges will appear on your student account. If you have the student BCBS plan or other in-network insurance plan, a claim for services will be filed with your insurance and you will be responsible for standard copayments and any applicable deductibles. After an initial evaluation for medication, your psychiatrist will help you manage your medication and monitor your progress during follow-up appointments. Concurrent therapy will continue to focus on dealing with underlying issues and skill building.
