Bio
Jakara is a doctoral student in the Educational, Leadership, Policy, and Human Development program pursing a degree in Counseling and Counselor Education. She is committed to providing quality and cultural responsive services to students experiencing mental health, academic, substance use, and career concerns. As a former teacher and school counselor she has years of experience helping students navigate academic and career development concerns. As a two time Fellow (2020, 2024) of the National Board for Certified Counselors she has helped increase access to effective and culturally competent counseling services for marginalized and underserved populations by addressing systemic barriers and tailoring services to meet the unique needs of diverse students and those within the community.
