Psychiatrist

Bio

I am a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist with extensive experience treating a wide range of psychiatric issues.  I attended Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed adult psychiatry residency training at the University of Colorado and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UNC-Chapel Hill.  Since then, I have practiced in rural, academic and private practice settings.  Currently, I have the privilege of working with students at NC State’s Counseling Center.

I am a strong proponent of the biopsychosocial model of psychiatry, a broad approach that considers a patient’s physical, mental and social sources of psychological well-being and distress. This integrated treatment approach includes careful evaluation, psychotherapy, good sleep hygiene, healthy diet, regular exercise, mindfulness and when appropriate, pharmacotherapy (medication).  I am also a certified (RYT-200) yoga teacher and incorporate yoga skills into my work with patients.
